Today, we have watch jewelry boxes, earring jewelry boxes, other types of boxes for jewelry, but years ago, pretty much everything was put into standard jewelry boxes. There are a lot of very decorative ideas for the many different types of boxes. The women who stood up in my daughter’s wedding all got a jewelry box from her, and she picked one out for herself as well. She purchased a lot of things besides that, including her accesssories and reception supplies. All kinds of ideas are on there for weddings in a specific theme, or more standard, old-fashioned types of weddings. Prince Charming and his lovely princess was the theme that my daughter and her fiance went for. It was an incredible sight to behold when he stood waiting, in his majestic tuxedo as she walked down the isle in a dress that would have made Cinderella jealous. It was a picturesque wedding. After the ceremony was over my daughter and son in law left the church in grand style with a horse drawn buggy and a driver dressed in a top hat and tails.
The reception had small white lights to add with the tulle that was draped above and tall flower vases scattered all about the room. An arch with green plants and red and white roses climbing up an arch stood behind the newlyweds’ table, while the wedding guests had at their tables an exquisite bouquet of flowers with sparkles that shimmered silver. The reception tables twinkled even more with the silver tea light dove place card holders she selected. The small jewelry boxes each woman at the wedding got as a favor had crystals and flowers wonderfully interwoven in their design. The men were given little key chains with the well known frog prince as a charm. The girls that were in the wedding party got gorgeous wooden, silver plated personalized jewelry boxes that had black velvet lining. The date of the wedding and name of the happy couple were inscribed in the boxes. The thank you gift my daughter gave the girls was very warmly received. The affordable jewelry box I saw looked like an extremely expensive jewelry box! The guys all got wine gifts sets with their names engraved on a small plaque. I thought that was pretty unique for a thank you gift.
The three-layered wedding cake they had was topped in debounair fashion with a small castle as the wedding cake topper. She even found a cake knife set that matched up with her storybook theme and champagne flutes to go with it. The amount of money she saved was staggering considering that she didn’t skimp on quality. They were firm about the fact that they did not want us to cover the bills from the wedding even though, as parents of the bride, we made it clear to them that we expected to pay for everything.
The first dance for the bride and groom was like something in a movie, and it was very emotional for me. It reminded me so much of the ball the prince had in the Cinderella story. We had a fantastic time at the reception and the garter toss was unbelievably funny, with all the guys pushing and shoving each other out of the way so they could be the one to catch Cinderellas garter. My daughter’s wedding day was as magical as she imagined it would be, and the whole thing was so special. Now they are on a honeymoon she’s always dreamed of. She promised to tell me all about the great places they went to while on their honeymoon, as soon as she gets home.
