We were only a couple of months away from our wedding day and I hadn’t gotten anything done yet. We decided to have a hearts wedding with little symbols of love and romance everywhere. I wanted to have a big heart made of flowers that was displayed like an arch at the front of the reception hall where the band would be, and lots of flowers everywhere. I wanted to find exquisite little heart wedding favors for our friends and family and an extra special hearts wedding favor for my special maid of honor. So far I’ve gotten as far as making out a guest list.
But that was only the beginning, after I mailed out the invitations I had to start planning the décor and ordering the supplies I would need. I bought large scarlet bows made of velvet to put on the church pews with a ribbon that would run from one pew to the next. The unity candle we used had a design of tiny roses put together to form a heart shape on the front of it, and the rest of the candle decorations made the altar look exquisite. There were also red and pink roses to help with the décor of the wedding site and red and white roses in my bridal bouquet. It may have been a touch extravagant, but I’ve always wanted to have doves released as we left the church building, so we did, and it I thought it was wonderful.
Everyone had their wedding attire taken care of, including our little flower girl and ring boy. I picked out a white satin basket that had bows and lace decorating it for our flower girl. The rings also had a white satin ribbon on them, with a white pillow that had a gold double hearts wedding insignia on it for our ring bearer. I had a mini tiara for the flower girl to wear in her hair that looked very much like the one I ordered for myself. She did look like a little princess in her lovely little pink flower girl dress, and she did such a super job in the ceremony. So did the ring boy, he was quite elegant in his little tuxedo with a red boutonniere in his lapel. When he walked, he didn’t get out of sync with everyone else, and he bore the rings in distinguished fashion. They both made me very proud.
For our wedding reception I had centerpieces made up of red, white and pink roses with little valentine hearts arranged in with the flowers. I got a place card holder that was the prettiest I had ever seen for each place setting, and two hearts wedding candles that made it feel like love was in the air. I ordered beautiful little silver bells with a heart shaped handle that make a very lovely keepsake from our wedding day for each of our guests. There were frosting hearts all around the bottom layer of our wedding cake, and each layer was decked out in pink and red roses all around. On top sat our very special keepsake hearts wedding cake topper made of white porcelain, which looked so elegant with all the other cake decorations.
Our entire wedding day called to mind love and Valentine’s Day, filled with flowers and hearts galore. Thank goodness for the world wide web, which certainly saved me a ton of time and hassle.
