The fact that they tied the knot on Valentine’s Day no doubt had something to do with the whole hearts idea. I have to admit it was a beautiful ceremony and the bride was simply stunning.
Flowers and hearts abounded at the reception dinner. The silver hearts wedding theme carried over to the place cards holders at the reception tables, and they complimented the red and white rose centerpieces beautifully. The wine glasses and champagne glasses made the tables sparkle. The bride arranged the tables beautifully. The champagne flutes were long stemmed crystal and the wine glasses were personalized with the names of the bride and groom and the date of their wedding. On the table that the wedding party sat at, the new couple had very special champagne glasses. They had a little magnificent hearts wedding cake with five layers of heavenly confection. It looked as good as it tasted. Maybe the one place in the whole wedding where there wasn’t a heart was at the top of the cake, where they had a customized miniature replica of the bride and groom that looked exactly like them. That cake topper was one of a kind, and it was the first time I’ve ever seen something like that. She said she bought it at a wedding website where she got all of her accessories and reception supplies. She took some pictures of her groom and herself, and from that, they put together a cake topper that could have been their twins. That’s something they’re going to enjoy looking at for many, many years.
It turned out to be a lovely hearts wedding. We got coffee in a bride or groom styled package, along with a heart shaped coffee scooper, and then we also got very pretty votive candle holders. I thought that was really a cute idea they came up with. Actually they had a lot of cute ideas for the ceremony and reception. The whole hearts genre matched Valentine’s Day, but I was still surprised at how many supplies and wedding items she found to fit that theme. I still can’t get over how cool that cake topper was. It would be great if they did that for birthdays and other ocassions too. She told me they have supplies and decorations for many events, and promised to show me where she shopped. Well, anyway, the wedding ceremony and the reception were a definite success and everyone had a wonderful time. I’m sure the bride and groom are having a great week in Mexico too. I can’t wait until they return and I can see all the pictures she took, listen to all the stories of the fabulous places they saw and things they did. The pictures she showed me on the brochures were fantastic.

Kids need bathtub toys, and Sesame Street’s Ernie even sang a song about one of the classics, a tune called ‘Rubber Duckie You’re the One.’ It seemed like a longshot, but I checked to see if there were any duck baby shower available anyway, and I was pleasantly surprised. It was a lot simpler to put together such a baby shower than I anticipated it would be, especially with all of the outstanding input I gleaned from suring the Internet. There are a lot of adorable little duck favors and decorations to be found on the internet for baby showers and even toddler birthday parties.
I was holding the shower in my rec room in the basement so I had plenty of room to set up indivdual tables to seat four guests at each. On one end of the room was a table for all the shower gifts and on the other side of the room I had a buffet style table set up with all kinds of finger foods, drinks and deserts, including an adorable little yellow duck shaped cake with the words baby girl on the bottom layer. On the wall I had a huge cut out of Daisy Duck and smaller cutouts of Donald, Mickey and the whole Mickey Mouse Gang.
At each table were little pink picture frames that I used as place card holders and each frame came with a baby duck in the corner. I found an ice cube tray that made little duck ice cubes, so I put yellow water in them and froze them. Believe me, it was the most ducks you’ve ever seen in one place at one time.

Each guest got a chance to check out the board and see how many pictures they were able to match up with the faces of the other guests. So, I decided to start with the decorations for my reception tables first. Picnic tables were the choice for my country western décor, and I put red and white checked tablecloths on each with daisies in little metal buckets to use as centerpieces. I bought adorable little barbecue grills as place card holders, which I let all the guests keep after the reception. I figured little barbecue grills were a neat idea, since we weren’t having a catered reception, but instead, a large family cookout. To have the feel of the old west, we added little miniature cowboy hats for everyone’s place setting and set out cowboy boot shaped glasses for them to drink from. As far as the ceramic wedding favors go, I didn’t go with the tea caddy, instead I opted for these adorable little honey pots with hearts on the dippers. They were so adorable and they fit right in with the country motif of our reception. Although, I almost went with ceramic wedding gift candle holders, which were really awesome. With all the great decorating accessories at my disposal, our tables had the look of a real country wedding, and the rest of the motif was perfect too.
With the haystacks we set up and the white lights twinkled in the trees, it was the epitome of a country wedding. Our wedding cake topper was not to be believed, it was figurines of a cowgirl roping her man and hauling him to the altar. We all had a good laugh from our whimsical cake topper. There were lots of laughter at our reception, we all dance, and partied our little hearts out and had such a super time. We even managed to have a hayride arranged for everyone, and that really went over big time, especially with the kids.
We also had nice little surprises for our wedding party people, like our bridesmaids and groomsmen for instance. I bought for the ladies in my wedding party and my fiance chose the guys gifts, which were lovely little ceramic wedding gifts for the girls and really neat looking cowboy steins for the guys. But for the little flower girl and the ring boy we bought tee shirts that had flower girl and ringboy printed on them. The wedding cake topper was special, the only one of that type I’ve ever been exposed to. She found it online at the same place she got the rest of the items she needed for her ceremony and reception. From a few pictures of the two of them, they created a look-alike cake topper figurine for each of them; it was very impressive. I’m sure they’ll treasure that forever.
We had a gorgeous but cheap silver hearts wedding, in fact they gave us two thank you gifts. One gift was an adorable votive candle holder, and the other was a package of coffee, decorated differently for the ladies versus the men, that came with a heart-shaped utensil to scoop the coffee with. A very original idea for them to think of, I felt. Really, there was no shortage of awesome thoughts for the wedding. Obviously, Valentine’s Day made the hearts thing a natural fit, but the way she did it was quite classy. In my opinion, the wedding cake topper took the cake, so to speak. That could work great on a birthday cake or maybe even a graduation cake, not just a wedding cake. She offered to show me where she got everything, and she said that they have something for every occasion. They couldn’t have put it together any better, and all of the people who went had a smashing time there. I’m sure the bride and groom are having a great week in Mexico too. As far as a gift for our ring boy and flower girl, we found adorable little tee shirts that said ‘flower girl’ and ring bearer’on them. Our friends and family and everyone in our wedding party seemed to be very impressed with our choice of wedding favor gifts for each of them.
I ordered bride and groom cowboy hats for me and my husband, a few accessories like an adorable western themed guest book and pen set, and a gorgeous wedding album to store the memories of today in. All in all, this country western themed wedding was really more than I had hoped for, it was spectacular and we all had such a great time.
